Pre-Law Advising Staff

Jamie Thomas-Ward, J.D., M.S., Director

Jamie is the Director of Pre-Law Advising Services, a position she has held since 2008. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She earned her Juris Doctor degree, Magna Cum Laude, from Northern Illinois University College of Law and was admitted to the Illinois bar in 2002. Jamie’s legal practice specialized in real estate transactions, corporate law, and municipal issues. After practicing law, she then obtained her Master of Science degree in Education (Illinois State University) to follow her passion for working in higher education. Jamie is also an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Political Science, teaching courses on the United States Supreme Court as well as an internship-based course she developed in collaboration with the Public Defender’s Office.

Jamie is currently serving as President-Elect of the Midwest Association of Pre-Law Advisors (MAPLA). She is also an active member of the National Academic Advising Association (NACADA), through which she was honored to receive a 2011 Outstanding New Advisor Certificate of Merit. She is also a member of the American Bar Association and the East Central Illinois Women Attorneys’ Association.

In her free time, Jamie enjoys travel, Zumba, reading, and spending time with her husband and their dog. She also enjoys watching Mad Men, Parks & Recreation, and 30 Rock.

Judy Argentieri, Advisor

Judy Argentieri is an attorney who practiced law in Washington, D.C., and Chicago before moving to Champaign. During her career, she has worked for AT&T Wireless, AT&T Corporation, the Federal Communications Commission and Nixon, Hargrave, Devans and Doyle. She received her law degree from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed her undergraduate work at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where she received her B.A. Cum Laude in History and With Distinction in All Subjects. She is admitted to the bar in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Illinois.

Judy lives in Champaign with her husband Ben and their two children, Olivia and Samuel. Judy joined PLAS in November of 2008.

Dimitria Johnson, Pre-Law Secretary

Dimitria is originally from Omaha, Nebraska and has worked at the University of Illinois for eleven years now.  She has been an Ally for the past two years and serves on various committees. 

Outside of work, she enjoys reading and writing.  When time permits she loves vacationing with the family and tai chi, where she has earned a green belt!

Donna Davis, Graduate Assistant

Donna grew up in Hammond, IL. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Illinois, where she received her B.S. in Curriculum & Instruction (Elementary Education) with honors. She taught in Champaign for four years before returning to the U of I for law school. She is currently a 2L at the College of Law.

Donna enjoys time with her friends, family, and of course her pug, Phoenix.
