Jamie Thomas

Jamie Thomas, Director and Advisor

Jamie is an attorney who worked in private practice in central Illinois, specializing in real estate transactions, corporate law, and municipal issues. She received her B.A. in English at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and her J.D., Magna Cum Laude, from Northern Illinois University. While in law school she served as the President of Phi Alpha Delta and the vice president of Women’s Law Caucus. She obtained her Master’s of Science degree in Educational Administration to follow her passion for working in higher education. She came to the University of Illinois in 2006, where she worked for two years in Research Administration, negotiating complex research contracts between the University and its research collaborators. She then accepted the Director of Pre-Law Advising Services position so that she could work with students once again.

In her free time, Jamie enjoys travel (especially to Italy!), watching Mad Men, playing with her dog, and spending time with her family and friends. She is admitted to the Illinois bar.


Judy Argentieri

Judy Argentieri, Advisor

Judy Argentieri is an attorney who practiced law in Washington, D.C., and Chicago before moving to Champaign. During her career, she has worked for AT&T Wireless, AT&T Corporation, the Federal Communications Commission and Nixon, Hargrave, Devans and Doyle. She received her law degree from Emory University School of Law in Atlanta, Georgia. She completed her undergraduate work at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, where she received her B.A. Cum Laude in History and With Distinction in All Subjects. She is admitted to the bar in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Illinois.

Judy lives in Champaign with her husband Ben and their two children, Olivia and Samuel. Judy joined PLAS in November of 2008.


Dimitria Johnson

Dimitria Johnson, Pre-Law Secretary

Dimitria is originally from Omaha, Nebraska, and has lived in Champaign-Urbana for thirteen years. She has worked at the University of Illinois for eight years now.

Outside of work, she enjoys working as a Youth Group Leader, vacationing with the family, and tai chi, where she has earned a green belt!
